"Checkers" or "Draughts" as it is called in Europe originated in Southern France or Spain most likely during the 12th Century A.D. Although Checker boards have been found in Egyptian tombs dating to 1600 B.C., it is doubtful their purpose was for the game we know today as Checkers. Books describing methods of play for Draughts were published as early as 1547 in Spain. Numerous versions of Draughts exist in the world with the two most common being Polish Draughts with a 100 square board and the English version known throughout North America as Checkers using the standard 64 square board.
The game embodies the elements of both a practical and elegant design. Hand selected hard woods and fullgrain lambskin underscore its extraordinary construction. Playing surfaces are made from the finest lambskin leather which naturally resists fading, spills and scratches. Counters are housed within the board becoming themselves an elegant feature of the design. A unique spring loaded channel with a slide release allows easy storage and retrieval of each counter. Custom graphics accentuate the game's natural beauty and perpertuate its rich heritage. The Noble Checker Board is unquestionably the finest board game made. Designed to last a lifetime, this finely crafted product is engineered to exacting standards which push the limits of technology and craftsmanship.
